Peersian handmade Bakhtiari Chahar Bagh Alvan Rug
Bakhtiari hand-woven rug is a valuable example of Iranian art that represents the authentic Iranian culture and art. In the southeast of Iran, there is a province called Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, one of the occupations of the people of this province is weaving hand-woven rugs. Rug weaving first became popular among villagers and nomads and then among urban dwellers. The rugs that are woven in this province are famous not only in other regions of Iran but also in the whole world. The designs of these rugs are completely subjective and depend on the taste of the weaver.

The colour used in Bakhtiari handwoven rugs is usually natural and herbal. Bakhtiari nomadic women collect and dry plants that are suitable for dyeing fibers during migration, and they themselves prepare the coloured fibers needed for rugs. With their knowledge of plants, they boil water and extract the coloured liquid of plants and make natural colours. Bakhtiari weavers usually do not use maps for rug weaving.
Weaving the handmade rug without a map has made the designs of the rugs to have a unique variety. Each rug reflects the taste and creativity of its weaver, and no two rugs are exactly alike. One of the most beautiful Bakhtiari rugs is the one-meter hand-woven Bakhtiari Chahar Bagh Alvan rug, which, like other Bakhtiari rugs, uses sheep’s wool and natural and plant colours.
